This question on a forum got asked
How can I increase traffic to my website? I've tried everything. I wrote loads of content - blogs, news, and added a shop where people can buy really cheap but premium high quality web templates, and still I'm only getting under 20 visitors a day. I used Google webmaster to index my site and stuff... spent a bit of money on Google adwords... done everything I can think of... can anyone give me any ideas or tell me if there's something everyone else knows that I don't?

Use the free google keyword tool to identify keywords related to your niche that have a reasonable amount of searches, and low competition. Then start creating content that targets those keywords. Post articles (focusing on your keywords) at ezinearticles dot com and other article directories; seek out blog posts relevant to your niche and post comments to those posts, linking back to your site with your keywords, etc.
I'm guessing that "web hosting" and "domain registration" are insanely competitive keywords. A quick check at google shows 35,000,000 competing sites for "web hosting" and 10,800,000 for "domain registration". It's no wonder you aren't getting much traffic.
The key part of what i said is you need to find low competition phrases to target. To find the number of sites you're competing against, type your phrase into google in double quotations: type what's inside the square brackets: ["web hosting"]. The number google displays at the top (results 1-10 of aboout 10,800,000) is the number of pages you are competing against.
Find long tail phrases in your niche with fewer than 50,000 competing pages and target those. So for example, if you targeted "easy web hosting", and used article marketing, blog commenting, etc, to build links back to your site with "easy web hosting" as the link text, it shouldn't take too long to get on page 1 of google for that term. And that's when you'll start seeing some real traffic.
Here are a couple keywords to start with. You can get more; just use the google external keyword tool for your traffic numbers and the technique described above for competition. Or buy a tool like Market Samurai or Micro Niche Finder.
web domain name registration: 730 broad match searches/day, 20,100 competing pageseasy web hosting: 266 broad match searches/day, 27,500 competing pages
I totally agree with bvoges. You should focus on keywords that are less competitive but still have good search volume. Also try other linkbuilding techniques such as social bookmarking and networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) to boost your traffic.
You should do the bookmarking and social networking, really help to get traffic. And about the article, bvoges was right, make article focus on keywords and then bookmark it.
Do Social media optimization and also post the classifieds ads like craigslist.org,backpage.com etc....
Here some ideas if your asking this questions alot.
