Viral Marketing Ideas For Home Based Business - Website Promotion

For any person running a business, the idea is to get the information about the product or service that you have out to as many people as possible. Creating a good website is important, and having the ability to capture the names and emails of the people who visit your site are all very powerful too. It can all come to naught if no one is crossing by and stopping at your website in the first place; recognizing that initially, you also have to make sure that when you have finally gotten the people to your website, you really have to be smart enough to keep them there.

The above may seem like a mouthful, but after all, this is a part of marketing. One of the more common methods of viral marketing is to create the report that is given away for free on your website that includes very good and meaty information. I know many people tend to fall into the trap of thinking that because they are giving something away that they need not spend time on creating a quality report. Nothing could be further from the truth. By providing a report that is around ten to twenty pages, you will be really showing that you are genuine and generous.

You can also provide appropriately placed links to your products, be they your creation or affiliate links. As long as they are inserted in a discreet manner, instead of surrounded by big boxes with instructions to "buy the below product" etc., you will show a genuine trait that people will appreciate. It is also beneficial to be creative and write in your report so that people may pass it along. You can even have a link in the report for others who want you to pass the report onto others as their friends, through a secondary opt in or recommendation page on your site. The way this is set up, you can get a second opportunity at building your mailing list as well.

Another method I have seen regarding viral marketing is that an entire book, all two hundred and thirty pages of it, was given away for free. It was of course, also suggested that anyone who need a hard copy of the book could pay for postage and shipping but get the book for free. Regardless of the method you use, when you give away an entire book, you are working on the premise of creating massive good will and using what is known as the back-end in marketing to make further sales that will earn you an income. It works on the principle of giving before you can receive in financial terms. Better still, with digital products, there is no real cost to you, other than the first time spent writing the book.
