The number one question in affiliate marketing is how to get people to your website, how do I increase traffic to my website? If you are new to the affiliate marketing business I will give you some pointers in what you can do.

First do not be overwhelmed by the thousands of choices in what affiliate programs to join. I will give you three niche markets that are money makers. If you stick with them you should do fine.

1) make money niche 2) the forex niche 3) the weight loss (fat burning) etc. niche

First pick the one you are interested in promoting, then try to pick the one's that are making the money. You can decide on which one's are doing well by going to clickbank.com. If you are a member there you can determine which one's are worth the effort by the gravity. The higher the better.

Next you you want to set up your website with the product or service you want to promote. I am not going to go into how in this article that may be the next one I do.

Now how do I get targeted website traffic? first let me say that there is some great software that will increase your website traffic greatly.

Once you have picked your niche product, we need to promote it. First you want to look for keywords for your product. You can do this usually on the affiliate page of the product you choose.

If the product does not have any keywords listed that is alright because I will show you how to find them. If they are not in the affiliate section go to keywordspy.com.

Keywordspy allows you to input the domain name of your product and then will display what others (your competition) are using as their keywords. You can see the ads they are using etc. It is a great tool.

You want to consider your keywords search volume. You can see this by inputing your keywords into the adwords keyword tool. You want to use words that are searched between 500 and 10,000 times.

Another way of finding keywords is to use phrases that are descriptive of the product. Example: affiliate marketing program.

The best way to increase website traffic for free is to write articles. Write a review of your product, or research the genre and write an article. You want to write an article about 300 to 500 words or so. Preferably you want to write an article for each of the keywords you found.

Generally stick to about to about 10 keywords. Mention those keywords about 5 times in your article. When you write articles you are more likely to get targeted website traffic. The traffic you want is targeted because they are more likely to convert to the sale.

Plus you hopefully have warmed them up with your article and by the time they get to the website they are in the mood to buy.

Once your articles are written you want to create backlinks to you website. An easy way to do this is to go to do follow forums like webicy.com and business-forum.com.

You may also want to start an adwords campaign. Go to google adwords and sign up for free. You may also be able to find a promotional coupon from google to get started. I found one for $75.00.
